Increased environmental awareness prompts wider range of sustainable merchandise

Previously, event organisers and exhibitors may have been criticised for producing large volumes of disposable material for show purposes, however, this can be done with sustainability in mind.

Lanyards and name badges are available from recycled or plant based materials such as lanyards from bamboo, corn, plant silk, or recycled plastic bottles and name badges from recycled plastic or bamboo. Further considerations to ensure products are not for single use could be to print just the show name on lanyards, bags and clothing without a show date.

Show clothing can be supplied using either organic cotton or recycled polyester garments or a mix of both.

Goody bags come in all manner of sustainable materials such as organic cotton, jute, recycled polyester, recycled cotton, recycled plastic bottles, paper, card, potato starch or sugar cane.

Research shows that exhibition goers enjoy receiving freebies and often this is even the draw for them attending an event so with that in mind and the commercial benefits illustrated below, look to offer prospective clients environmentally responsible promotional items.

Environmentally conscious giveaways can include recycled sticky notes, pads or notebooks; recycled plastic pens; bamboo pens; recycled coasters; cork coasters; stapleless staplers; recycled plastic ice scrapers; kinetic torches; recycled trolley coins; recycled yo-yo; recycled leather key rings; reusable drinkware to avoid single use plastic such as bottled water and disposable coffee cups.  Here are just a snapshot of the eco products available…

And if the product you wish to provide your prospective clients is not currently recyclable, let's not forget, non-recyclable materials are not harmful until they are disposed of, if they have a long life span and are a useful item, they will receive multiple uses and remain in circulation instead of in landfill.
